Abdul Aleem recently took part as an evaluator at the Final Year Project (FYP) Exhibition 2025, organized by the School of Mathematics & Computer Science (SMCS) at IBA Karachi. The event is a key milestone for the university’s Computer Science students, who present their final-year projects to industry experts and academics.
FYP Exhibition: Industry Evaluation
The FYP Exhibition is held annually and serves as a platform to showcase the hard work, creativity, and innovative solutions developed by the graduating students. Each summer, approximately 30 to 40 student groups present their projects, many of which are designed to address real-world technology challenges, often in collaboration with industry partners or guided by external mentors.
As an industry evaluator, Abdul was invited to assess the projects and provide constructive feedback to the students, helping them further refine their work and better understand its practical relevance.
Exploring Opportunities for Collaboration
During the event, Abdul met the organizing manager to discuss future collaborative possibilities between Kwantis and IBA. They explored a model where the company could submit actual industry challenges or research topics for final-year students to address as part of their graduation projects. These projects would be co-supervised by an IBA faculty member and an external advisor from the company, ensuring students receive balanced guidance that is both academically rigorous and aligned with industry standards. To ensure steady progress, regular weekly or bi-weekly check-ins were proposed to maintain alignment and provide ongoing mentorship.
This model not only enriches students’ learning experiences but also benefits participating companies by providing early access to fresh talent and innovative solutions to real-world challenges.
Building a Strong Academic-Industry Partnership
This initiative represents a meaningful opportunity to support innovation, tap into fresh talent and perspectives, and strengthen the relationship between academia and industry. By collaborating on real-world projects, Kwantis and IBA can work together to nurture skilled professionals ready to tackle today’s and tomorrow’s technological challenges.
