kwantis performed a Risk Analysis in Cairo (Egypt) in order to identify and evaluate threats and opportunities on schedule, cost and quality on the Metro Line 3 project, paying particular attention to the challenging tunnelling process executed by using a Slurry TBM.

The risk analysis was carried-out with the international project team, in the project offices and on construction site. The approach has followed 3 objectives:

• Identify, Evaluate and Mitigate all project risks through interviews with relevant Risk Owners (Threats and Opportunities)
• Provide Risk Management awareness during the interviews
• Set up a Risk Escalation and Reporting for the project

The analysis identified all threats and opportunities (including those related to HSE), and then highlighted the most significant ones in order to manage priorities among Risk Owners. Mitigation and Fallback actions have been also identified where necessary, in order to ensure the risk reduction to an ALARP level. Finally, the risk evaluation allowed project management and partners to have a better understanding and then monitoring of all the uncertainties on the project.
